Trip to St Pete Beach 2009

Jerry, Monica, Austin and I went to St. Pete Beach June 6 - 10, 2009. We all had a pretty good time. Austin couldn't wait to get there to see the ocean, so we didn't tell him that St Pete was not on the ocean. Once he got into the Gulf, he decided he didn't care too much for it - he got a mouth full of salt water. Jerry talked him into going back in a little later and that time he had a good time. We visited Busch Gardens in Tampa one day, but it was a lot different than it was in 1970 when Mom, Dad, Todd and I were there. There were a couple of kid's areas with rides, so we spent much of the day there. We also rode the train a couple of times. Jerry and Austin were in line waiting to go on the log ride when it started raining. All rides were shut down at that time, they waited for a while, but then we decided to leave. I was ready, because my knees just can't take all the walking.

We had a hard time finding good places to eat. A few of the places we checked out were very expensive, so most of our meals were at Denny's or McDonalds. Austin's favorite place is McDonalds anyway.

Our resort, TradeWinds, had a huge inflated slide on the beach. Monica bought Austin an all-day pass for it and he had a great time.

We had to fly in to and out of Tampa and there was road construction all around, so Jerry wanted to leave for the airport early on the 10th. Well, it didn't take long at all to get there, so we had to spend several hours in Tampa's airport. All and all, we had a good time.
